WHEN CROWS CROSS YOUR PATH

If you’re serious about living out your calling and leading with courage, you’d better expect opposition. You’ll have critics. You’ll have doubters. You’ll have distractors. These are the “crows” of life—people who circle overhead, pecking at your vision, hoping you’ll come back down to their level.

But here’s what I know: spiritual crows don’t attack dead things. They only go after what’s alive and moving. If crows are circling you, it’s not a sign of weakness—it’s proof of progress. When you rise into your calling, expect the noise. But don’t you dare let it ground you.

Who Are the “Crows”?

Crows show up differently in everyone’s life, but you’ll recognize them:

  • The Doubter: They question your ability and your calling: “Are you sure you’re cut out for this?” (Just like Nehemiah’s critics mocked his work in Nehemiah 4.)

  • The Distractor: Constant drama, endless negativity, anything to pull your focus off what God told you to do. Like Peter sinking when he took his eyes off Jesus.

  • The Dragger: Their comfort zone feels safer when you stay grounded. Your elevation exposes their lack of movement.

Romans 8:31“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Translation: If He’s backing your flight, no crow has the wingspan to bring you down.

Leadership in the Face of Crows

Great leaders know how to rise above opposition without getting tangled in it. You don’t waste energy on arguments; you channel it into altitude.

Here’s how you lead like an eagle when crows come after you:

1. Soar Higher – Don’t Fight Low Battles (Isaiah 40:31)

“But those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles…”

Eagles don’t waste time fighting crows; they just fly higher until the crows fall away from lack of oxygen. Leaders do the same. Stop battling petty criticism. Stay mission-focused and keep climbing.

2. Guard Your Energy and Your Heart (Proverbs 4:23)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

As a leader, your heart is the engine room. Negative voices drain it. Protect your mental, spiritual, and emotional altitude. Stop giving people who doubt your calling front-row access to your vision.

3. Turn Resistance into Fuel (Genesis 50:20)

Joseph’s story is leadership at its finest:

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good…”

Every crow attack is a backhanded compliment—it means you’re disrupting something. Let resistance sharpen your resolve. Let every doubter push you closer to God’s purpose.

4. Build Your Eagle Circle (Hebrews 10:24-25)

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on… encouraging one another.”

Leaders don’t fly solo—they fly in the right formation. Surround yourself with people who lift, stretch, and challenge you to keep climbing. If your circle isn’t inspiring you, it’s grounding you.

Jesus didn’t promise us a life free from opposition—He promised us victory through it.

“You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”(Matthew 10:22)

Leaders who shake things up will always have critics. But the absence of opposition isn’t success—it’s stagnation. The presence of crows is a sign you’re disrupting darkness and stepping deeper into destiny.

Crows don’t stop eagles. Ever. They squawk. They peck. They dive. But they can’t breathe where eagles fly. Isaiah 40:31 isn’t about flapping harder—it’s about catching God’s wind and soaring higher. That’s leadership in the Spirit: staying focused on your mission while the noise fades below.

🔥 Bottom line: The louder the crows get, the closer you are to where God’s taking you. Leaders don’t engage with the noise—they keep their altitude, eyes locked on Jesus, and wings wide open.

So let the crows scream. Fly higher. And watch them disappear in your rearview.

Such a good word and impeccable timing. A time when the crows are crowded in and just the gentle reminder that I am on the right path.
