As you watch TV you will quickly discover a recurring statement: "In uncertain times ... blah blah blah." I have even used it - and probably still will. It's the start of a great slogan, but slogans never stop the panic, anxiety, or fear. You cannot just throw out canned messages and expect people to "feel ok" or "just snap out of it" - there has to be an honest conversation about where those things come from. BUT THE NEWS HAS CONTRIBUTED A LARGE DEPOSIT INTO OUR FEARS, ANXIETY, AND PANIC. That is without a doubt!!!
2020 - 2021 has been full of hysteria.
You have to connect to the right source to set a new course! If you dial in or lock in to the negative news you will wake up everyday wondering: "What day is today?" You will stay in your pajamas all day, eating the Doritos, napping, and getting stuck in your own head. Let me tell you, that is the vast majority of people over the last 18 months. I wake up everyday take a shower, shave, and get ready for the opportunities of the day. Yes, they may look different, but if I ain't ready they probably won't come my way.
We need to drill down into the Good News - the Word of God. When you are facing fear, anxiety, or overwhelm turn off the news and read the Good News. John 14:27 declares, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." C'mon, that's Good News. You see, if I find myself in the area of hysteria when I do not place my life in the hands of God. We will all have "freak out" moments - but you cannot let the moments because days, weeks, months, years. Pull a T-Swift and "Shake it Off."
You see, it seems as if the messaging is the same across multiple organizations, but the antidote is not. Most business, schools, and agencies are giving details. Let me say this, numbers don't lie - but they can be manipulated. Manipulation is a tactic of the enemy to have you only see one side. But, as for me and my house, we find the hope in God, while others look to government or the CDC. We discover peace in God's plan, while men are frustrated with their own search for peace. We embrace we are not in complete control of our destiny, but we are in control of our decisions!
If we find our strength in our circumstances, then when our circumstances change we feel weak. But the Bible promises, "The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? (Psalm 27:1). The Lord alone is my salvation and protection, so I do not have to be afraid. The word in Hebrew for tremble literally means to "shake without control." During this season of COVID19, vaccines, masks, social distancing, and isolation it could be very easy to "shake without control." But when we place our lives in the palm of God's hands we recognize the "Lord is my fortress."
You can move out of the area of hysteria into the place of peace when you embrace the fact that God is your fortress! Walk in that confidence.
"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear;
